An evolutionary look at the fusion of energetic and physical anatomy. During this module we will look at the body from two different perspectives: the scientific, brainy, break it down and dissect everything “thinking model” as well as the fluid, interconnected and esoteric “feeling model”
Yang and YIN
We will begin our journey at the surface of the body and layer by layer deepen our understanding and ultimately our connection with the miraculous temple that holds the self.
We will take an in-depth look at the anatomy of 3 main joints: The Hip, Spine and Shoulders. Traditionally when studying anatomy from dissection models we look at individual muscles and how they effect movement. However just like real life, nothing works as a separate entity, rather it only functions within the context of the larger picture. In this module we will look at these 3 specific joints as “communities” within the body, that when are functioning properly, everybody is healthy and happy, but when individuals are not pulling their weight (literally) the entire integrity of the joint becomes compromised and begins to compensate.Compensation is not inherently good or bad, rather a way our body deflects discomfort because it is in our biology to avoid discomfort and seek what is pleasurable. We will look at some of the major compensation patterns in these joints, how they effect movement and what if anything as yoga teachers we can do about it.
We will also explore the world of fascia, the web that holds us together, through various modalities including, myofascial release, and Yin Style practice. We will study myofascial meridians, how they apply to movement and specific yoga postures as well as look at common injuries, habits and overuse “symptoms” associated with specific lines of the body through Vinyasa style sequences.

I am a mother of 3 and the owner and primary facilitator at Empowered Yoga. I have been a teacher and mentor of yoga and wellness for over 15 years both as a yoga teacher, personal trainer, exercise therapist and strength and nutrition coach, Lets just say i have worn many hats and have learned a lot about working with people and their bodies. I believe that the human body houses infinite potential and it is through movement of body and stillness of mind that you unleash its potential. My vision as a teacher is to empower students to take control over their health and happiness using: Yoga, fitness, meditation and nutrition as medicine. Through my classes, coaching programs and teacher trainings i offer effective lifestyle practices that combine the ancient traditions and philosophy of yoga with modern kinesiology, psychology and nutrition in order to make these otherwise mystical and unattainable practices, practical and accessible to everybody.
