Over the course of the weekend we will explore concepts related to diet, lifestyle, individualized meditation, breathing and yoga techniques, cleansing and rejuvenation procedures, herbs and therapies.
Asana, Pranayama and Meditation through the lense of Ayurveda
As we dive deeper into the foundations of Ayurveda through a practical kinesthetic approach. We will discuss how to leverage the qualities of the governing energies of the universe (Vata, Pitta, Kapha and Sattva, Rajas, Tamas) to customize asana, meditation and pranayama practice. This ensures the therapeutic value of yoga is optimized by appropriately accommodating the time of day and year, as well as one’s personal constitution and needs. We will explore both physical and energetic anatomy through the lense of Ayurveda; bringing light to how different postures and sequences can be used for energetically aligning each dosha. This class will provide the student of yoga with a more expansive understanding of yoga, along with a base of how to apply the practical wisdom of Ayurveda to one’s unique teaching style. Confidently use using simple time tested techniques to create a yoga practice that encourages self healing.
Ayurveda Ayurvedic Cooking for Self Healing- Food as Medicine
On the final day we will shift our focus to the basic principles of the Ayurvedic seasonal routines, diet and food choices while we learn how to use household herbs and spices to create a few delicious, well combined meals for healthy living. We will shift our perspective as we begin to think about food preparation and nutrition, from the lens of Ayurveda cultivating an understanding of how to get the most out of your food choices as well as simple ways to improve your overall energy, metabolism and digestion. Participate in preparing simple, balancing recipes to use for you and your family, while discovering your kitchen pharmacy and understanding the deeper digestive principles of Ayurveda.
