This is a workshop for health practitioners: including regulated health professionals, yoga teachers, yoga therapists and movement professions.

This workshop provides in-depth integration of pain science, innovative pain self-management techniques, yoga philosophy and yoga practices. Participants will gain a solid foundation in pain science, and in yoga philosophy related to pain and pain management. Daily yoga practices will assist the practitioner to begin integration of Pain Care Yoga principles into their clinical or therapeutic practice.

            : how suffering impacts every aspect of our existence

            : how every aspect of our existence can be used to influence pain

            : how to use ‘moving with ease’ as both a pain education tool and analgesic.

    The focus is on enhancing foundational knowledge, and shifting paradigms of pain, people living in pain and evidence-based pain care.

Completion of this workshop by health professionals, yoga teachers, yoga therapists and movement practitioners meets partial requirements for the Pain Care Yoga and Pain Care Movement teacher certificates through www.paincareu.com

Instructor: Shelly Prosko, PT, PYT, C-IAYT

Shelly is a physiotherapist and yoga therapist dedicated to bridging the gap between modern healthcare and yoga. She is a respected pioneer of PhysioYoga, a combination of physiotherapy and yoga, with over 20 years of experience of integrating yoga into physiotherapy rehabilitation and wellness care. She believes both approaches offer value and are a perfect blend in order to provide optimal care for people living with and suffering from a variety of conditions. Her mission is to educate, empower and inspire individuals to create and sustain wellness by teaching, promoting and advocating for this integration.

In addition to being a Pain Care Yoga Facilitator, Shelly also guest lectures at physiotherapy schools, teaches in numerous yoga therapy programs and yoga teacher trainings, speaks internationally at yoga therapy and medical conferences, offers onsite and online continuing education courses for physiotherapists, other healthcare professionals, yoga therapists and yoga teachers, and offers workshops and individual sessions for those suffering from a variety of conditions, including pelvic floor dysfunctions and persistent (chronic) pain.

Her courses and retreats are highly sought after and have been well received by many physiotherapists and other healthcare providers. Participants say that Shelly has a unique ability to blend the art and science of yoga with physiotherapy in an engaging, valuable, compassionate and joyful way.

Over the past two decades, Shelly has received extensive formal training in numerous specialty areas; however she emphasizes the immense value gained from clinical experience and learning from the people she works with and the students she teaches. She considers herself a lifelong student, truth seeker and change maker.

In addition to her many skills as a healthcare practitioner, Shelly is also an accomplished figure skater and has traveled the world with many professional ice shows. She is also passionate about music, dance and spending quality time connecting with her family and friends.

A deposit is required to hold your spot. Deposits are not refundable. Cancelations up to 30 days prior to the event may be issued a credit with Empowered Yoga to be used towards a different program. Unfortunately we are unable to issue a credit or refund the deposit within 30 days of the event. Certificates of completion may be issued upon the successful completion of the requirements above.
