Yoga and Womens Health
Research into the history of yoga has shown us that it is filled with teachings and practices that were geared towards men and the male body. Yoga was a practice that was originally only crafted and encouraged to be performed by men. But as it has risen in popularity in the west it has become more predominantly practiced by women. Although more women are practicing yoga and even becoming teachers of the art, we have not shifted the practice to meet the woman’s body. This module is all about digging deep into the understanding of women’s bodies – it’s wisdom, it’s cyclical nature and it’s desire to maintain balance.
In this module we will explore the depths of what it means to be female. From puberty all the way through to menopause, we will dive into the physical anatomy & physiology, the female endocrine system, the energetic properties of the different stages of the menstrual cycle, the archetypes associated with the cycle, and of course what this all means when it comes to yoga.
By the end of the course you will have a new appreciation for what yoga practices better fit our hormonal and energetic shifts, how to sequence for the cycle and how to share this new outlook with other women either in your life or in your yoga classes.
Although this training is beneficial to all female yoga teachers, it will benefit any woman looking to deepen her relationship to her own body and to coach other women, younger and older, how to appreciate and see the beauty in the ever changing female body. Allow this course to be the start of a collective shift in the feminine energy that exists all around us. Let’s gather together, share space, and discover a whole new appreciation for our body.
